Rhys Stubbs

Rhys Stubbs
Brig. General (Starfighter)
Brig. General (Starfighter)

Profile:

Name: Rhys Matthew Stubbs
Age: 55
Species: Human/El Aurian
Sex: Male
Hair Colour: Medium Brown
Eye Colour: Brown
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 166lbs
Homeworld: Sol, Earth
Affliation: Federation

Physical Description:

Rhys has a boyish look to him, which always seems to attract the girls, and due to his bi-sexuality, guys too. He usually sports a 'bed-head' or ruffled look to his thick brown hair and deep brown eyes that have a certain aura of warmth to them. Stubbs is average height, possibly slightly below average and has a toned, athletic build. Rhys generally keeps a clean shaven face and always looks clean.

Rhys has excellent reflexes, which a number of people have commented that when in a fighter, what ever it is, it is almost impossible to keep up with him. Thanks to his El-Aurian mother, Stubbs is still very youthful looking, something which he is very grateful for.

Personality Overview:

Rhys is a very trustworthy character and doesn't appreciate rumours being spread around about anyone. He is very bubbly and enjoys talking with people and will go out of his way to make sure that he knows every, usually he makes friends very quickly, but because of his talkative and sense of humour, which is quite wide spanning, some people find him 'inappropriate for his roles' or find him very irritating.

He is very well humoured, and not afraid to speak his mind. Stubbs also has a very determined nature around him and will get something done, whatever it takes. In addition, he respects authority, but does bend and twist the rules slightly and will voice his opinions through constructive criticism if he disagrees.

A clear strength in Rhys, is that he knows how to motivate people. He is a talker, and will use his motor mouth to great effect if someone is either down, or angry. He is a talented diplomatic, but does find that aspect boring and tedious. He has outstanding reflexes which make him an excellent and controlled Starfighter pilot, being able to pull off every move in the stunt book. He is also a keen Martial Artist and trains daily to ensure that his reflexes remain in peak condition.

One of his most apparent downsides, is his hyperactivity, whilst he does not have ADHD, he feels he must be continuously doing something; whether that be tinkering with a Starfighter, or running down the hanger deck backwards and forwards repeatedly. In addition, he is sarcastic and slightly cocky which does grate on people, but many realise that he is trying to be friendly. Stubbs also has a set routine in doing things and hates it when people disturb it.

Ambitions:

Not really a one for being ambitious other than in planning things for his subordinates. In general, Rhys takes things as they come, he has always dreamed of designing 'the perfect' Starfighter and running the corps, but he feels that he would have to continue dreaming.

Interests and Hobbies:

Rhys, like the young man at heart and in soul he is, enjoys nothing more than the most up to date gadgets, things that go fast and sex. He doesn't particularly care much for reading, but does like doing his research on Earth auto mobiles and Aircraft through the ages and the continuous development of technology to what it is today. He is a very keen pilot and has his own personal craft that he bought a few years back that is one of the fastest and manoeuvrable crafts he has ever flown.

Exercise wise, Rhys enjoys Athletics to which he excels in short and mid distance running and the long and triple jump and is also a keen martial artist trained in both Jojuditsu and jujitsu.

Biographical History:

Rhys Stubbs was born in Canada on the 16th April 2341. He was born into a reasonably wealthy family that had no immediate history within Starfleet, preferring solitude and privacy to the rest of the world. Stubbs spent most of his early years attending the local Burns Lake Primary School. Even from an early age, Rhys hated his solitude and the fact that his parents mollycoddled him. He wanted to be able to just have fun.

Whilst he attended his Primary School, it became apparent that he was quite an intelligent child with a great potential...if he applied himself to all his subjects, not just Maths, Science and P.E. His parents wanted him to do better, so eventually, they bowed down to his wants and decided to sell the house they currently lived in. The family moved to a small, but much large town named Kendal located in England, U.K. when Rhys turned eight.

He was glad that they had moved, since there was more people to meet, talk and make friends with. At the age of fourteen, like most teenagers, he was getting into trouble with the law. The most severe case, was when he stole, though he claimed he was borrowing, a neighbours Racing Pod and took off around the Solar system before finally being apprehended by Starfleet Patrols.

Rhys parents were deeply disappointed and prevented him from leaving the street, unless accompanied for the next eight months; though, every night, he snuck out and took part in a local racing championship or rally which involved Racing Pods and Shuttles. It wasn't too long before Rhys' talent for flying was noticed and immediately praised. The Starfleet Academy offered Rhys advanced flight training if he both stayed out of trouble and joined the Academy after his sixteenth birthday. Which he did.
Moving to San Francisco, Rhys just about managed to pass the entry exam of the Academy and was placed in the promised Advanced Piloting Classes along with Tactical Combat amongst other related subjects.

In his third year at the Academy, Stubbs decided that Starfighter Piloting would be his ideal area. He loved the thrill of being strapped inside a fast, agile craft with weapons and blowing things out of the sky. It was at this age, when he started to notice that his mother had not aged since he was little, when he enquired why, his parents told him that it was because she wasnt human, but El Aurian.

His parents kept this information from him because they felt it might make him feel isolated and solitary knowing that he was not fully human, but a cross breed. A mongrel.
To their surprise, he was happy about it, because that meant he could stay young, and good looking for longer.

In 2360, Rhys' fourth and final year at the Academy, he selected his desertation and choose to join the ranks of the USS Curry, a Starfleet Fighter Carrier where he spent eight months learning the ropes and becoming field trained. Whilst there, he made good friends with a number of people and proved that he was indeed a fighter ace, and a valued member of the crew, much liked, much loved. Captain Robert Darford, the Captain of the Curry offered Stubbs a position within his elite fighter group. Rhys accepted it and upon finishing the Academy, he was assigned the rank of Second Lieutenant and joined the crew of the Curry.

Upon assignment to the Curry, Rhys was placed in the Elite "Vanguard" Fighter Squad under the leader ship of Fighter Ace Lieutenant Colonel John Fisk. The pair would frequently go head to head in training excercises and Rhys frequently managed to beat him, though, overall, Fisk was the better pilot.

Within three years of being on the Curry, Rhys earned himself a promotion to the Rank of First Lieutenant and placed as Second Officer of the 'Vanguard' squad. This annoyed some people, as the found his general friendliness to be a way of gaining promotion, when some of them had been there for many more years.

In the year 2365, following an encounter with a Cardassian Freighter smuggling illegal goods and fighters, Rhys' first proper dogfight started. One of his wingmen was lost, the other had their fighter disabled, but thanks to the quick thinking and brilliant piloting of Stubbs, he was brought back to the safety of the Curry. This earned the Lieutenant a further promotion to Squad Executive Officer and Captain.

By the time the decommissioning of the Curry came around in 2369, Captain Stubbs had made it to the Squad Leader Role of the 'Vanguard' Group and was very much the envy of many new pilots. When the Curry was decommissioned, the 'Vanguard' Group received a facelift with the new Valkyrie Prototypes being unveiled for their exclusive usage as well as being assigned to the new USS Ronald Reagan, a stripped out Galaxy Class starship made specifically to carry star fighters. The Valkyrie Class quickly established itself as one of Stubbs favourite fighters ever, although he was constantly getting the deck staff to tinker with his for improved manoeuvrability and speed.

The year 2371 saw the start of the Dominion War, to which the Ronald Reagan was assigned patrol of the Atronis system. The Reagan saw relatively little action on its patrols, Stubbs was involved in the occasional smuggler engagements, but it was decidedly dull for the Captain.
